  • In 1956 - John Haynes, at 16 years of age, wrote his first book on the Austin 7.
  • In 1960 - JH Haynes & Co was formed.
  • In 1965 - The first Haynes manual was published.
  • In 1972 - The Group’s headquarters were established in Sparkford.
  • In 1974 - The US Company was formed.
  • In 1979 - The Group was floated on the London Stock Exchange.
  • In 1993 - The French Company ‘Editions Haynes’ was formed.
  • In 1996 - The Swedish Company ‘Haynes Nordiska’ was formed.
  • In 1997 - The US operation established a branch in Australia.
  • In 2000 - The Group acquired Sutton Publishing Ltd.
  • In 2001 - The US company acquired the trade and certain assets of the Chilton Manuals print product business in the US.
  • In 2002 - The US company acquired the trade and certain assets of Gregory’s Automotive Products in Australia.
  • In 2006 - The French subsidiary ‘Editions Haynes’ was liquidated
  • In 2007 - Sutton Publishing Limited was sold
  • In 2007 - The US company acquired the trade and certain assets of Bookworks Pty in Sydney, Australia.
  • In 2008 - Haynes Publishing Group P.L.C. acquired the entire share capital of the Vivid Holding BV Group based in Soest, Holland.
  • In 2009 - The UK business sold its UK print operation
  • In 2010 - The Group celebrates its 50th Anniversary
  • In 2011 - First Haynes Manual online launched in the US
  • In 2012 - Vivid Automotive rebranded as HaynesPro
  • In 2013 - Restructuring of UK business announced in September - Acquisition of Clymer and Intertec Manuals in the US
  • In 2014 - UK distribution outsourced
  • In 2015 - Haynes Publishing Group P.L.C. acquired the entire share capital of Teon Media Limited
  • In 2016 - Group Operational & Cost Review led to outsourcing of group printing and US distribution operations in Nashville and closure of Haynes Nordiska (Sweden)
  • In 2016 - Haynes Publishing Group P.L.C. acquired the entire share capital of OATS Limited
  • In 2017 - The Group acquired the E3 Technical business
